It’s My 100th Post! (Win a portrait of yourself!)

Well hello my followers.

So you realize this is my 100th post??? Do you know what this means? I am giving away a prize commemorating the fact that I stuck with something for longer then a day!

This is an example of what you’ll win;

This is a drawing I did of myself with Adobe Illustrator. One of you lucky readers will win a drawing, very much like this one (but probably better), of yourself!

The rules; all you have to do is post your name and where you’re from in the comments section, and I’ll do a raffle.

Simple as that. Once you’ve won, I’ll have you email me the photo you want drawn, and I’ll send it to you in a few days time.

The contest will end on August 31st 2011. Happy commenting!

Photography at its most inspiring.

These are some photographs taken by Natsumi Hayashi, a young girl from Tokyo Japan.  She creates a very magical feel with her abstract caption of what daily life would be like for someone who never touches the ground.  For these self portraits Hayashi will snap hundreds of photographs, all of herself jumping, until she captures the right shot. This girl is just wonderful photographer.

“The only way to get a right timing for a shot is jumping a lot,” Hayashi said in an interview with the U.K.’s Daily Mail, dispelling our hopeful illusions that she’s the first human being who can actually fly. “Sometimes I need to jump over 100 times to get a right shot” She does this in front of her camera, mounted on a tripod, and continues to do so until she achieves that perfect, natural-looking “levitation.”

“I got the idea from an English idiom that says ‘to have one’s feet firmly planted on the ground,” she continued. “In Japan, we have the exact same idiom. But I am not a practical person at all. Therefore, I try ‘not to have my feet firmly on the ground’ in my self-portrait photos to show my true self.”

Quilting – In Progress

Hey, I started this project a few months back and have started adding to it again (now that my sewing machine is back out for Anime North costumes).

I just thought I’d show ya’ll what I have so far… now its not that great, seeing as I’ve never made a quilt before and am not sewing any patters…. but the point is that I’m having fun as well as re-cycling those old over sized band t-shirts that I’ll never wear again! Go Team Katie!

Anyways, hope you like it!

(PS, some of the patched on the quilt {I.E. the silk screen ones} were bought from local artists in Kingston and Toronto! Go support your local artists!)

My Awt

So I finally finished my Owl painting!! Its a 40×20 canvas of an owl… thats it. Either way I will be selling it for a decent sum of money… depending on what my client and I decide on.

This painting took me about a month to start and finish (although I’ve had it longer than that). Its a mixed media painting with acrylic as its base, wax for texture, and permanent marker for some details.

I would like to say that this is my last owl painting but it is not. I have another request for an owl painting(s) and I should get started on it ASAP. Well, by ASAP I mean after I finish the painting that’s in progress now; I’m working on painting a large canvas of a crow holding a pocket watch. The crow will stand out of the canvas with the help of cardboard and wall paper past, the bass will be done in acrylic with Oil paint for details. I’m going to try and have it looking like my old oil paintings. Should be fun!

Anyways hope you enjoyed my painting. If you would like to perches any paintings that I post, or if you would like to request something, just message me through here and I’ll get back to you!
